The phoenix is truly symbolic of the energies of the age of transition from Pisces/Virgo into the energies of Aquarius/Leo. Aquarius rules birds of long flight and Leo is a fire sign. Pisces and Virgo together represent the cycle of death and rebirth. Pisces rules the 12th house which represents the end of life, death and the afterlife, and Virgo represents the harvest cycle from planting to growth to decay and death repeated each season. So a celestial bird that bursts into flames and perpetually dies only to rise again from its own ashes perfectly encompasses and illustrates this transitional energy.

The sign of Pisces is a dual sign, represented by two fish. This energy creates a yin or yang, black or white, all or nothing perspective. The dualistic energy of Pisces has been apparent throughout the age, with many issues such as religious intolerance, racism, and sexism being a product of this influence. It has been a time in history marked by an “us vs them” and “right vs wrong” attitude. Now, at the end of the age of Pisces, we are seeing what was once a high, exalted, positive form of the Piscean energy turn dark and negative. As the energy progresses through time, we are now in the winter of the cycle, dark and cold and dying.

At this moment in astrological history, we are making the transition from the age of Pisces into the age of Aquarius.
