Welcome to the Apocalypse
The sign of Pisces is a dual sign, represented by two fish. This energy creates a yin or yang, black or white, all or nothing perspective. The dualistic energy of Pisces has been apparent throughout the age, with many issues such as religious intolerance, racism, and sexism being a product of this influence. It has been a time in history marked by an “us vs them” and “right vs wrong” attitude. Now, at the end of the age of Pisces, we are seeing what was once a high, exalted, positive form of the Piscean energy turn dark and negative. As the energy progresses through time, we are now in the winter of the cycle, dark and cold and dying.
The beginning of the age of Pisces is marked by the life and death of Jesus Christ and the birth of Christianity. The symbol of Christianity is a fish, and both fish (Pisces) and bread (Virgo) were often used as metaphors to illustrate various spiritual concepts by Jesus and his disciples in their teachings. The mother of Jesus was said to have been a virgin when God miraculously impregnated her, referencing the energies of both Pisces (miracles and mystery), as well as Virgo (virgin and mother).
Because Pisces is a dual sign, the age has been marked by duality. This duality creates absolutism, or the idea that there is an ultimate good and ultimate evil. This energy has created a divide amongst religions and spiritual teachings throughout the age. Although the core beliefs are strikingly similar, the major religions of the age of Pisces have been at a terminal impasse with each other. Historically, this is seen most dramatically between the religions of Christianity and Islam. Islam is the other major religion born in the age of Pisces. Just like Christianity, the energies of both Pisces and Virgo are readily apparent throughout the practices and philosophies of Islam. For example, the daily ritual (Virgo) of praying (Pisces) five times a day, pilgrimages to Mecca (Mercury/Virgo rules travel and Pisces rules the sacred), and the preservation of the mystery (Pisces) of God by forbidding the depiction of God’s image.
At its highest, Pisces represents peace and eternal life. The highest expression of Virgo energy is a simple life of service and a plentiful harvest. The lowest or decaying form of these energies are represented by the four horsemen of the apocalypse; War, Death, Conquest and Famine. Prophecy is a hallmark of the energy of Pisces, and so we have seen many prophecies arising during this age. The prophecies detailing the end of times seem dramatic when viewed from the all or nothing perspective of Piscean energy, but in truth these prophecies were only visions of the end of this particular age, not all life on earth.
Pisces in its highest form is pure spirituality, untouched by the rot and death of earthly existence. Christians and Muslims have passionately pursued this goal throughout the age. In its lowest form, Pisces brings illusion and delusion, which is what we are witnessing now as the energies decay. What was once a pure and perfect expression of the divine, is now fallen and rotting. Because of the dualistic nature of Pisces, this decline is difficult to accept for those who are aligned with the Piscean perspective. There is much resistance to this natural decay, because from the perspective of Pisces, it is the loss and death of everything. The absolutist attitude of Pisces inhibits the acceptance of any loss or death as positive.
The most beneficial attitude that we can have during this time of transition is to embrace relativity. Going beyond absolute concepts of good or evil, right or wrong, black or white will help all of us to weather the destruction and loss that we are being forced to endure as the Piscean energy dissipates and the Aquarian energy begins to take center stage. The storms and chaos represented by the energy of Aquarius will break down and destroy the limiting structures of the Piscean age, forcing us to let go of what is rotten and dead. The truth is that as the either/or energy of Pisces disperses, the veil of illusion will be lifted and humanity will be able to embrace the rainbow of truth. But the rainbow comes after the storm, and the storm is necessary to clear away everything that is keeping the new growth from emerging. In fact, the origin of the word apocalypse actually stems from the greek word apokalupsis, which means “revelation” or literally “uncovering”. So welcome to the apocalypse my friends! It will be a bumpy ride for sure but new, beautiful growth is on the other side of this epic hurricane and it will be worth enduring the storm to witness the glorious rainbow at the end.
